Most cruise lines assign an arrival window during online check-in, and arriving inside that window is the best way to avoid the longest terminal lines. General boarding usually runs from late morning into the early afternoon, but the exact timing varies by ship, port, and sail date. Follow the check-in instructions your cruise line sends you — they always take priority over general guidance.
Where does Adventure of the Seas depart from at Port Everglades?
The current schedule lists Terminal 18 (Royal Caribbean). Confirm your terminal with the cruise line before traveling.
Drop-off: Terminal 18 is Royal Caribbean's main terminal at Port Everglades. Follow green Palm signs from any port entrance. Drop off luggage curbside with porters (tip $2-3 per bag), then drop off passengers before parking.
When should I board Adventure of the Seas?
Royal Caribbean online check-in typically opens about 45 days before sailing, and you select your arrival time in the Royal Caribbean app as part of it. Earlier arrival slots typically fill first, so checking in the day it opens gives you the most choice.
Windows and opening dates vary by ship, homeport, and loyalty tier, so always follow your cruise line's instructions for your specific sailing.

Official Terminal
Terminal 18 (Royal Caribbean)
Drop-off: Terminal 18 is Royal Caribbean's main terminal at Port Everglades. Follow green Palm signs from any port entrance. Drop off luggage curbside with porters (tip $2-3 per bag), then drop off passengers before parking.
Parking: Terminal 18 has no garage of its own. Use the port's Parking Lot C, the 600-space surface lot adjacent to the terminal, or Lot B nearby — Lot B is the port's smallest and the most likely to be full on a busy morning. Note that the Palm Parking Garage serves Terminals 19 through 29, not 18, and that the airport has its own separate Palm Garage about two miles away, so navigate to the port's address rather than the garage name.
Check-in tips:
- Complete Royal Caribbean's online check-in and download your SetSail pass to the Royal Caribbean app before arrival
- Facial recognition technology speeds up the boarding process — just look at the camera
- Suite and Crown & Anchor members have priority check-in lanes
- Royal Caribbean has a long-term preferential berthing agreement with Port Everglades
Getting to the Port
From Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL)
FLL sits about 2 miles from Port Everglades — the closest major airport to any cruise port in the US. It's the only port in the nation located adjacent to an airport. The drive itself is 15-20 min, though traffic lights on the access roads make it feel longer than the distance suggests.
From Miami International Airport (MIA)
MIA is about 30-35 miles from Port Everglades. Cheaper flights sometimes make this worth considering, but factor in the longer transfer.
Driving & Parking at the Port
Port Everglades has two main parking garages: Heron (1,818 spaces, Cruise Terminals 2 and 4) and Palm (1,966 spaces, Cruise Terminals 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29), plus surface Lots A, B and C. Follow the color-coded signs from any port entrance.
Hotel Shuttle Services
Many hotels near the port offer cruise shuttle packages. Quality and timing vary — some are one-way only with fixed departure times.
