Most cruise lines assign an arrival window during online check-in, and arriving inside that window is the best way to avoid the longest terminal lines. General boarding usually runs from late morning into the early afternoon, but the exact timing varies by ship, port, and sail date. Follow the check-in instructions your cruise line sends you — they always take priority over general guidance.

Where does Regal Princess depart from at Port Everglades?

The current schedule lists Terminal 2 (Princess Cruises). Confirm your terminal with the cruise line before traveling.

Drop-off: Terminal 2 is in the Northport area. Follow orange Heron signs from any port entrance. Drop off luggage curbside with porters (tip $2-3 per bag), then drop off passengers at the terminal entrance before parking in Heron Garage.

When should I board Regal Princess?

Princess check-in typically runs through the Princess app (MedallionClass), where you complete your documents and select an arrival window ahead of the sailing. Finishing everything early typically puts you in the faster walk-through lane at the pier.

Windows and opening dates vary by ship, homeport, and loyalty tier, so always follow your cruise line's instructions for your specific sailing.

Getting to the Port

From Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL)

FLL sits about 2 miles from Port Everglades — the closest major airport to any cruise port in the US. It's the only port in the nation located adjacent to an airport. The drive itself is 15-20 min, though traffic lights on the access roads make it feel longer than the distance suggests.

Uber/Lyft: $15-22 depending on terminal. Taxi: ~$18-21 flat rate. Shared shuttle: $11-19 per person.

From Miami International Airport (MIA)

MIA is about 30-35 miles from Port Everglades. Cheaper flights sometimes make this worth considering, but factor in the longer transfer.

Uber/Lyft: $40-60 depending on traffic. Taxi: ~$75-85.

Driving & Parking at the Port

Port Everglades has two main parking garages: Heron (1,818 spaces, Cruise Terminals 2 and 4) and Palm (1,966 spaces, Cruise Terminals 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29), plus surface Lots A, B and C. Follow the color-coded signs from any port entrance.

Port parking: $20/day maximum for cars, $25/day for oversized vehicles up to 24 feet. No reservations or pre-payment accepted.

Hotel Shuttle Services

Many hotels near the port offer cruise shuttle packages. Quality and timing vary — some are one-way only with fixed departure times.
