6 picks from real cruiser reviews

From Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)

EWR is about 20 minutes from Cape Liberty by car, making it the closest and most convenient airport. Traffic on the NJ Turnpike can add time during rush hours.

Uber/Lyft: $20-35 depending on traffic. Taxi: ~$40-50 metered. Shuttle services: $15-25/person.Best for: Most cruisers flying in

Royal Caribbean sometimes offers shuttle service from EWR — check your cruise line's website before booking. If you're arriving the day before, consider staying near the airport and taking a quick ride to the port in the morning.

From JFK International Airport (JFK)

JFK is about 45-60 minutes from Cape Liberty, depending on traffic. You'll cross through Brooklyn or take the Belt Parkway to the Verrazzano Bridge and up through Staten Island, or go through Manhattan and the Holland Tunnel.

Uber/Lyft: $55-80 depending on traffic and route. Taxi: $70-100 metered.Best for: Cruisers with better flight deals into JFK

Avoid rush hour — the trip can easily double in time. If your flight arrives late, stay near JFK or in Jersey City overnight and head to the port fresh in the morning.

From Penn Station / Manhattan

If you're coming from Midtown Manhattan, take the NJ Transit Hudson-Bergen Light Rail from Hoboken or drive through the Holland Tunnel to the NJ Turnpike south. The drive is about 30-45 minutes depending on tunnel traffic.

Uber/Lyft from Midtown: $35-55. NJ Transit from Penn Station to Hoboken + Uber: ~$20 total.Best for: Cruisers spending a night in NYC before sailing

The Holland Tunnel backs up badly on weekend mornings. Leave Manhattan by 9am to stay ahead of traffic. Alternatively, take the PATH train to Hoboken and grab an Uber from there — it's often faster.

Driving & Port Parking

Take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 14A, follow Route 440 South, then turn left on Port Terminal Blvd. Continue past the guard gate and follow signs to the terminal. The on-site parking garage is adjacent to the terminal with a covered walkway.

The on-site garage accepts cash and credit cards — no reservation needed. If you want to save money, off-site lots like Rightway Parking ($9/day) include a free shuttle. The garage has a 7'4" height limit — RVs and tall vehicles use the open lot at $70/day.

Several hotels near Newark Airport and in Jersey City offer Park & Cruise packages that include one night, parking for the duration of your cruise, and shuttle service to Cape Liberty.

Park & Cruise packages run $150-250 total (night + parking + shuttle)Best for: Cruisers who want to bundle hotel + parking + transport

Trinity Reservations handles cruise port shuttle bookings for many area hotels. Verify shuttle departure times when booking — most run once in the morning between 9-11am. Book early as packages sell out on busy sailing weekends.

Rideshare is readily available throughout the NJ/NYC metro area. The port has a designated pickup and dropoff zone past the guard gate.

Varies by pickup: Jersey City: $15-25. Newark Airport: $20-35. Hoboken: $15-25. Manhattan: $35-55.Best for: Flexibility and door-to-door service
